Here the true advantage of HE in FE becomes apparent: working with small cohorts. Teaching can react much more responsively to student questions and initiative.
The resources used attempt to follow some design patterns:
- Grab the reader's attention. Use jokes, anecdotes, memorable text, anything that will make an impression.
- Exploit simultaneously the visual, textual, and kinestesic channels: use colour, diagrams, text, and short active elements at the same time.
- Keep language simple: the Plain English Campaign recommends short sentences, the active voice, and to avoid jargon.
- Layout the text in high contrast, using clear large fonts, short unequal lines, and visual structural clues.
